Annual Election Results

By Maureen Robinson, Board Liaison – Communications Committee

The PEPOA Annual Meeting was held on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at the Howard Johnson’s in Bartonsville, at which three (3) directors were elected to the Board.  There were four (4) candidates vying for three (3) open positions. Two of the four candidates – Patricia Jackson-Scott and Paul Smith – were incumbents. There were 106 members in attendance and 23 absentee ballots cast.   The vote tallies were: Patricia Jackson-Scott - 78 votes; Paul Smith - 70 votes; Gilbert Flecha- 56 votes; Michelle Valerio – 37 votes.  Consequently, Pat, Paul and Gil were elected to three year terms.

Lisa Sanderson, President, presided over the meeting with Patricia Jackson-Scott presenting the Treasurer’s Report to the audience.  Lisa and the Board members fielded many questions from the attendees on various topics. Due to the tight publishing deadline, all questions and the corresponding answers will be included in a future issue of Harmony.

At the Executive Meeting immediately following the annual meeting, the new board elected its officers.  They remain the same as last year: President – Lisa Sanderson, Vice-President – Jose Padilla, Secretary – Maureen Robinson, and Treasurer – Patricia Jackson-Scott.  In addition, the new committee liaison assignments are as follows: James Brewer remains liaison for ARB; Robin Hightman continues to work with Recreation and Community Day along with Nominating Committee; Paul Smith will work with Appeals and PEP; and Jose Padilla will continue to work with Safety and Security as well as Wildlife and Forestry committees.  Sean Reilly remains responsible for PEUI, Buildings, Grounds and Roadways, and Government Relations, with Gil Flecha assuming responsibility for Long Range Planning and Real Estate. Maureen Robinson will serve as the liaison for Communications and Community Documents.  In addition, Patricia Jackson-Scott will serve as liaison for the newly formed Audit Committee.
